Alcyone, daughter of the Lord of the Winds, you lived a deep and happy love. Devoted wife of Ceyx. He felt the same feelings for you and reciprocated your devotion. A special bond united you, so intense that it aroused the envy of the Father of the Gods. Zeus, angry at seeing a love as strong as divine power, decided to take your companion away from you, making him shipwreck in the waves of the sea. You, little Alcyone, unaware of the death of your sweet husband, continued to pray for his return. Hearing your prayers, Hera, Queen of all the Gods, was moved by compassion and on a dark night asked her faithful Iris to slide along the rainbow bridge and reach you in your dreams.

The Messenger brought you anxiety typical of contemporary living, giving the world magic and enchantment. For this reason, the goal of the “Alcyone” project lies precisely in the author’s desire to be able to enchant the public who comes into contact with the photographic image, giving them the opportunity to get excited.

The myth of Alcyone tells the story of an otherworldly love, which symbolizes the ability to come into direct contact with nature. Alcyone and Ceice make us understand the importance of learning to listen to the voice of nature, giving us the opportunity to live connected to its mysterious laws, until we reach the key to its secrets.

This connection between man and nature is necessary to develop the creative process of the artist. The artist is the one who is able to identify the mysteries of nature, as the artist is able to transform experiences and emotions into works of art.

In the process of creation the artist becomes a craftsman, as he is able to give a concrete and tangible form to sensations and feelings.

With the photographic work “Alcyone” the author wanted to depict the fusion between man and nature, underlining the fact that the human being, as a living being, is inextricably connected to the entire universe.

To give life to the right images, it was decided to use an artificial dam located in the hinterland of Puglia, enclosed between the Murgese hills in southern Italy, as a location.

The choice of outfits was important for the realization of the concept. Thanks to the collaboration with the artist and designer Saverio Maggio who, with his creations, gave the opportunity to make the poetry inherent in the photographic story intense.
